The Making Of A Sunflower

The sunflower from Cheery Lynn Designs is one of my favorite flower dies right now. Today I am going to show you how to make the most of your dies. So let's focus on how to make them come to life and look more realistic using the sunflower die.

1. First, cut out 2 of the sunflower dies along with the center using brown cardstock.

2. Brush a little ink along the edges of each petal using a burnt sienna colored ink pad. Its got a nice orangy-brown color to it. For the flower center, you can use any dark brown ink.

3.Pinch each petal with your thumb fingernail. This is key to giving the flower dimension and realism. You only need to do this to one of the flowers.

4. Now adhere both flowers together using a foam dot or some other dimensional adhesive. Make sure the flower with the pinched petals is on top.

5. Manipulate the flower's petals to give them have some movement. Add the brown center and place inked leaves under the flower. I used the leaves from the Judy's Blooms dies for this one.

There you have it! Here is my complete layout. Isn't my nephew just the CUTEST??? I used sketch 127 for my design inspiration.

Siblings Forever (Whether they like it or not) :)

Have you ever thought about making a layout on something other than a traditional piece of cardstock or patterned paper? I have and today I'm going to show you a layout that I made on a calendar sheet from Urban Lily. Sometimes a little change is nice. :)

The calendar sheet started out black and white so I added plenty of bright colored patterned papers from Urban Lily and lots of great Cheery Lynn Designs dies. The contrast really makes my die cut elements pop.

To make this cluster of orange flowers I used the Pretty Petal die. It's easy to make them look more realistic. I simply pinched each petal with my thumb's fingernail and adhered them onto my page near the colored wire. Each center has a dab of glitter glue.

For the fence, I ran it through my Big Shot with the Burlap embossing plate. I sanded down the cardstock just a little so you could make out the details. I also added a horizontal strip of the same paper over the fence which I pulled from the Wittle Wicker die. After all, the cute little red bird needs a place to perch. :)

More fabulous Cheery Lynn Designs used:
Butterfly
Floral Heart
Tropical Flourish
French Pastry Doily
Darling Daisies
Basic Optimistic Alphas

BC's Happy Haunting part 2

I promised more projects using the newest, cutest Halloween collection released from Best Creation called Happy Haunting.

I had a little space to fill so I pieced together a cute, giant pumpkin. I guess you can call him the "Great Pumpkin". :)

I found the perfect, unfinished wooden shadowbox at a local thrift store and went to town making it into this spooky yet fun Halloween decoration complete with a spiderweb made out of ordinary string.

Do you love it? Tell your favorite scrapbook store to carry Best Creation's Happy Haunting!

Sketch 129

Hello scrappers? Are you having a great summer? I hope so! You know, I was looking forward to the lazy days of summer. This summer has turned out to be anything BUT! It seems like this fun family of mine never slows down with cheer, ukulele camp (you read right!), baseball games, Young Women, work, car shopping (super stressful), DT's and a million other little things.
I'm sorry I'm slacking a little in the comments and I know I still need to find a winner for last month. You are all awesome, bear with me, ok?

Shy One

Hello! Today is Thursday so I'm here to share another layout using FABULOUS Cheery Lynn Designs dies. I really do have so much fun with these dies.
This is my 3 year old niece. She has more character and wit than I've seen in a toddler in a long time. Yet every time she comes over to visit she is always really shy for about a full hour before she comes out of her shell. LOL!

I framed the photo using the outside edge of the Emperor's Swan die. (I'm going to save the beautiful swan for another project.)

To add a little interested I placed a French Flair Die in the white space along with a french flair silhouette shape using the Spring Fling die.

I then layered away using plenty of coordinating colors and patterns. Judy's Blooms are my favorite flowers to use right now so I was sure to add a few of those. :)

Here is my complete list of dies used:

Spring Fling
Emperor's Swan
Floral Heart
Buttons3
Judy's Blooms
French Flair Stackers
Loves Me...Border
Micro Mini Alphabet

When one door closes, another one opens. I am no longer on the Sweet Peach Crop Shop DT but I was chosen to be on the new inaugural design team for another totally cute kit club called Birds Of A Feather! You may remember them, they sponsored The Scrappiest a few months ago.

Their kits are so stinkin' cute and they've got a nice, active message board. I've been looking for a new "home". Haha!

Come check them out!

Spring Has Sprung with Cheery Lynn Designs

We've only lived in our house for less than a year so it was a fun surprise to see what flowers popped up during the Spring. We had so many tulips spring up (which are one of my favorite flowers) and it was gorgeous!

And of course all of the beautiful CDL flower dies came in super handy!

Bird on a Branch 2
Judy's Blooms
Dimensional Leaves
