July Practical Scrappers sketch

The July sketch is up on the Practical Scrappers blog with some fabulous examples from the DT.
Here is my take on the sketch below:

Products used: Fancy Pants Down By The Shore
I was actually digging this sketch so much I made 2 layouts with it.

My husband and his brother looked goofy in their spear fishing outfits so they decided to ham in up and look even sillier. I love them!!

I love that saying. It's so true, isn't it?

Sk8r Dudes

Die-Versions just released their "Late July" release to the public with the August release coming shortly behind.
Let me introduce you to "Boys Will Be Boys"!

Super cute, right??
For those of us with boys, we know there can NEVER be enough boy-themed supplies out there.

For my skater page I used the following dies:

Skateboard Sweet Petite
Super Stars Wee Petites

Check the Die-Versions Blog often for more ideas using these awesome boy dies.

Sketchy Thursday

Hello! Today's weather here in No. Virginia is absolutely gorgeous and that puts me in a great mood. It's 72 degrees! I'll take it and love it after the heat wave we had last week...yuck!

I have a sketch to share today.

I was inspired by the large circle from the American Crafts Mayberry collection, which is so summery and adorable. A special thanks to My Creative Scrapbook for the kit!

Have a beautiful day!

Burlap Embrodery Hoop Decor

I scored a bunch of embroidery hoops at a yard sale for cheap...because, well, I am cheap. ;) I use to do a lot of cross stitching but not any more.

I used a piece of burlap for the background and decorated with flowers and birdhouses.

I made the shutter effect in the inside of the flower from an age-old paper folding technique. Its done by working from the back and placing strips of folded paper in a certain way. I found the idea in a paper crafting idea book from the library and I love the outcome! I think it looks pretty dang cool!

That's all for today, thanks for stopping by!

All Star Winner

My kids are pretty active, especially my boys. But my daughter's sport of choice is soccer. She loves it and she's pretty good at it, too. I got the chance to play with a few of Die-Versions' soccer dies from the new "All Star" collection.

Here are a few close-ups of the dies I used...

First off, the Soccer Border Die was cut with different colors and then layered to make the scene look realistic. I found the black silhouette of the girl playing soccer through Google search, which I just printed and cut out.
I cut out the Winner Express Edge with a dark red paper and tucked it behind my trio of action photos.
Finally, this fun little Whistle die was added to the top to complete the whole sports theme. I added some  realistic layers to the whistle complete with my daughter's initial.

Check out the Die-Versions BLOG to see all of the "All Star" dies in use.

Home Is Where These Guys Are

These 5 people are my favorite people ever! -my hubby and my 4 kids. We move often with my husband's job and though that is hard, we can make any new city or house our home because we have each other.

I used an older sketch of mine which I used for the Practical Scrappers sketch to design my layout.
I mainly used the Story Teller collection from Crate Paper but I also pulled various pieces from my stash. I gotta' use it sometime! :)

Have a great weekend!!!

Forever Family

It's good to know that as we get older our siblings and parents are forever ours.

It seems like my siblings and I are pretty spread out these days...some living in Utah, California and Virginia. I can't wait for the day that we can reunite. My youngest brother (who is 6 years older than me) came to visit when we lived in Utah to surprise my dad on Father's Day. We had a great little reunion for a few days.
Again I used the "Trend Setter" collection from Fancy Pants. It has quickly become one of my favorites. I did plenty of layering on this layout and added a lot of embellishments.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Summer Sun

The summer fun continues...

I made this card using a few wonderful dies Die-Versions from  their June "Life's A Beach" release.

The Vacation title is an Express Edge which comes connected as one word, I snipped them apart so they could fit my card better. I cut out three Palm Trees  and used the negative on the cover of my card to show the patterned paper underneath.

Speaking of Die-Versions, they just released their newest collection of sports dies called, "All Star". Super cute stuff, check it out...!

Monday Sketch

Hello all! Its been a while since I posted a sketch just for my blog so here ya go.

Really, this was a good day. The cousins enjoyed spending time with each other playing tennis, BBQing and gliding down the lake in my brother's boat behind his house. Love Sundays like this!

I stamped a bunch of butterflies and cut them out to place in a row per the sketch design.
I need to remember to stamp more. ;)

Celebrating our Independence

Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays. I love the fireworks, picnics with friends and family and the morning parade.
This particular parade runs just a block away from my house so we take a stroll down to the bottom of the hill and enjoy seeing the floats, hearing the bands and loading up on cheap candy. These are photos from last year but tomorrow my daughters and I get to walk in the parade with our church's float. Fun!

I cut out several stars with my Cricut machine and folded them to make them dimensional

Practical Scrappers has a large assortment of cards and layouts using red, white and blue to celebrate my favorite day. Check it out here on the Practical Scrappers blog.
