Get Your Decoupage on With Helmar

Hello! Today I want to share my altered wooden farmhouse with you. I found this little house at my local craft store. It was yelling at me from the shelf to take it home and cover it using Helmar Decoupage and Craft Paste. I obeyed and did just that.

To begin my project, I painted all of the edges of my barn a grey and allowed it to dry.I chose to use the new Storyteller collection from Crate Paper to cover my barn. After I measured and got all of my paper sizes right, I brushed on the Helmar Decoupage Paste with a large paintbrush right onto the barn. I then applied each paper onto the barn and painted another coat of Decoupage over it. I love the firm, shiny coat that it gave my project.
To add a little more detail I decorated the barn with cut out paper grass, brass brads, Spanish moss and a feathered flower. Those were all attached using Helmar Craft & Hobby PVA Glue.

Humorous LOs with Practical Scrappers

Hey there! This week on Practical Scrappers we are featuring humorous cards and layouts. After all, Charlie Chaplin said it best when he said, "A day without laughter is a day wasted."
My kids make me laugh SEVERAL times a day. They have the best personalities. Especially my youngest. He walked down from his room dressed in an orange wig, a mask and Home Depot apron....why? I have no idea. He must have decided to get creative with his outfit that morning.

Check out more humorous projects on the Practical Scrappers blog.

Have a great day!

Treat Containers with Helmar

Today I got to make my first DT post on the Helmar blog. I have been using Helmar adhesives for a while now and I'll never use another brand. The simple truth is...it just works!
The end of the school year is upon us and my kids' teachers have gone above and beyond to teach them and help them have a successful school year.
I found these cute little treat containers on Pinterest that I thought would be cute to make for their teachers. I'll show you what I learned.

1. Cut a piece of patterned paper to 6x8 inches. Run your Helmar Permanent Adhesive Runner onto two adjacent edges.

2. Roll the sheet till it resembles a tube shape. Press firmly to seal the edges together.

3. Now press together the top which has the adhesive already on it.

Fill your container with whatever treat you want. My daughter's teacher loves Hershey's Kisses so I filled mine with those. Seal the open side shut so everything is shut inside. Chocolate Kisses are heavy so I reinforced the top and bottom with Helmar Craft & Hobby PVA glue.
Cut the edges with decorative scissors, if desired, and decorate the package. Finish it off by spraying it with Helmar Crystal Kote Matt spray.
There you have it. Pretty and pretty easy, right?

Thanks for stopping by today.

Cropping at Memorable Seasons

Hey there! I hope many of you got some scrapping done during National Scrapbook Day on Saturday.  Memorable Seasons is celebrating with a crop this week. I've got a few projects done so far that I'd like to share. I used the fabulous My Little Shoebox brand on just about everything below.

My 13 year old is all about the accessories.  She's got a great sense of style.

I have been wanting to use large banners on a LO. I love the impact that it makes.
The sheet of 3D flowers from MLS always come in handy.
Papers used: My Little Shoebox Up In Trees and Happy Go Lucky collections.

Next I have this one of me and my youngest. He is my last child and we are so close. He's my special little guy.

I pulled out my large collection of flower dies and got to cutting.
Papers used: My Little Shoebox Up In Trees collection

And finally we have this sleepy little man. He stopped napping at the age of one. He's just one of those kids who don't demand a lot of sleep (though I would love a little quiet time myself). So when he actually falls asleep while everyone is awake, it is worth documenting.

Papers used: My Little Shoebox Up in Trees and Lovely Day collections.

I should also mention that every single piece was glued down with the fabulously sticky Helmar glue. Love this stuff!

Have a great weekend!!

Pretty Girls With My Little Shoebox

Hello! Today is my first day to post on the My Little Shoebox blog.
This month I am working with the adorable Aiko collection. The Aiko collection is so beautiful with whimsical prints and the prettiest color combinations.
First off, I have a layout that I made of my sweet niece in her Easter dress. She is just a doll!

Supplies: Aiko Happy Notes, Sky, Blue Sky, 3D Roll-Up Flowers, Cardstock Stickers

Next, I want to share this layout of my daughter.
Photo 4
I really had a good time playing with the variety of roll-up flowers. I added glitter to each of them for some added sparkle.
Photo 5
Supplies: Aiko March, Happy Notes, Sage, Lipstick, Festival, Blue Sky, Carstock Stickers, Roll-Up Flowers

I made the cute little oriental girls the center of attention on these two cards.
Photo 6
I used a border punch to add layers to the bottom of the card.
Supplies: Aiko Happy Notes, Kiss, Bouquet, Whoopie Pie Sprinkle Glaze Alphabet Stickers, Quicksand Mini Alphabet Stickers

Photo 7
Supplies: Aiko March, Happy Notes, Sage, Blue Sky, Cardstock Sticker, Roll-Up Flower

The individual flowers on the sticker sheet looked great with a vine die cut that I have. I cut out the sentiment from the Happy Notes sheet and adhered it to the bottom.

That's all for today. Thanks for stopping by!

Sweet Girl on White

Hello and happy Wednesday!
I don't use white cardstock for a background often but after we were challenged to do just that on Practical Scrappers, I think I will find myself using it more. I love the outcome, it makes all of the patterned papers and embellies pop, giving it a nice clean look.

I used a sketch from Sketchabilities for my inspiration. I am really loving their sketches lately. You should check them out!

I used My Little Shoebox's 'Up In Trees' collection here. Check out how pretty these papers are!

Notice the pretty paper flowers? With each collection you can get a sheet of the 3D Roll Up Flowers. They are so fun and easy to use.

Check out the Practical Scrappers blog for more fabulous ideas using a white base from the DT.

Thanks for stopping by!

Get Wordy

Hello! Can you believe it's May already? Summer is coming soon but for now I am loving the Spring weather we're having.
This week's 'Challenge Me Tuesday' challenge at Practical Scrappers is to get wordy using games such as Bingo, crosswords or Scrabble as inspiration. I remembered I had this cute crosswords paper from Crate in my stash that fit the call perfectly.

Again, I used the adorable Neapolitan collection from Jillibean . Looove it!!!

Practical Scrappers has extended this call for another week so you have time to challenge yourself with the "get wordy" assignment. Send us a link to your project at practicalscrappers(at)gmail(dot)com  and we will feature your project there on the blog.
