How about a sketch to start off your weekend?

It was a cold Easter weekend here in Virginia and a cold start to Spring. My kids kept saying that the Groundhog lied, there is no early Spring. LOL! We are enjoying the weather now, thankfully.
I could have gone with a "winter" themed layout, but I'd rather put winter behind me. ;)

I used my favorite Helmar Acid Free glue throughout my whole page.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Til The Cows Come Home
I've been having some fun playing with my new dies from this month's Die-Versions release, especially with the cow.
"Playful" is the word to describe each of my projects today.
Because being a little different makes you stand out, I call this one, 'Fine Cow Art'.

I painted the 5x7 frame a fun teal color and lined up my cows with foam Zapdots to give each cow height. I was surprised at how much my teenage daughter liked it, she immediately called "dibs" on it and displayed it on her bookshelf. haha
Finally, I made some scrumptious Samoa cupcakes for a get-together with friends. Cut with edible paper, I used this same die for a cupcake topper.

Thanks for stopping by today!

A Little Bit Country
Howdy!! Die-Versions has come out with their awesome April 2013 release called "Country Life". I received a few dies from this collection and I have had so much fun creating cards, layouts and a framed altered item.

There is a long list of puns to be used for barn animals but I went with the "holy cow" theme. See, my cow has a halo? Ha!
This card would be suitable for a thank you or just to let someone know how awesome they are. I used the new Cow Sweet Petite die and the Pasture Parade die to make the farm scene on my card. The Pasture Parade is actually one die but I broke it up by cutting out each animal with a different color.
A Little Bit Country
And finally, my husband's side of the family is pretty country, more than just "a little" actually. This farm collection with be used quite a bit in this household.

Here I used this Sweet Spot for my title.

Check out how stinking cute this tractor is! I cut the tractor out in 3 different colors and pieced it all back together for a more realistic look. Sitting on the driver's seat is a lone duckling from the Pasture Parade die.
Check out the Die-Versions BLOG for tons more fun ideas using this adorable collection of "Country Life" dies from the new DT.
More ideas from me soon...
Thank you so stopping by today!

A Glimpse Of Today
Hey there! Today I have a few projects to share using wonderful Helmar glue and embellies from Want 2 Scrap.
I am so excited Want 2 Scrap is partnering with us at Helmar again because I truly love their gorgeous embellies and bling.

I had a great time gussying up this page about my beautiful daughter.
I covered Want 2 Scrap's Nestaboards Nested Pennants with patterned paper and inked a few Corrugated Hand-Drawn Swirls to add plenty of flair to my page.

I scattered a few Amber Rhinestones to complete the look.
Helmar's Acid Free glue and 1/4 Zapdots were used throughout the page.
Finally, I have a fun card to share.

I arranged and left the Nestaboard Bird undressed but added an Amber Rhinestone for his eye. A Maxxi Girl Pearl flourish completes the card.
Thanks for stopping by!

Zip- a- dee- doo -dah!
Happy first day of Spring. Though where I live we're not quite feeling it yet. My kids went to school this morning zipped up tight.
Speaking of zippers...;) The gals on Practical Scrappers and I showcased 10 ways to use zippers on cards and layouts. I found a huge stack of zippers at my local thrift store for cheap so I was thrilled to put them to good use.

I created this faux ripped/zipper look across my page using Glitz Designs and Helmar's Acid Free glue and Helmar's 450 Quick Dry . The 450 Quick Dry was essential to adhering the zipper on with complete ease.

Another way to use zippers is to use them in place of tree stumps or anything else tall like below.

Check out more ideas on the Practical Scrappers BLOG.

Its Sketch Time
Hey there! I have a sketch for you all to try. I know its a day late (I usually try to post my sketches on Mondays) but things happen. ;)

If you like a lot of layering and one main photo for focus then this sketch is for you.
Before I reveal my take on the sketch, let me start out by saying that this is my oldest daughter (her 14th birthday is today, YAY!)and this is not a real wedding photo. She's only 14! We did an activity in church for the girls and they were able to try on wedding dresses and think about the choices they need to make in choosing a worthy, kind husband.
My girls loved trying them on but I don't know how I feel about seeing my girls in wedding dresses...kinda' sad and scary!! Time goes way too fast.

I wrote my journaling on the back of my layout because it is special just for her.

Dr. Seuss Party
Happy Dr. Seuss Day!!
I am a leader over our church's Young Women program (teenage girls) and we recently had a New Beginnings program with a Dr. Seuss theme. I was happy to volunteer to make the decorations and dessert for this event.

To make the trufula trees, I used PVC pipes and PVC pipe insulation (black foam) for the trunks. I wrapped them with yellow streamers to make the stripes. To be sure that the streamers didn't slip I used Helmar's Tape Runner to to make sure it held right. For the tops of the trees, I made pom poms with stacks of tissue paper.

I wanted to make a Dr. Seuss scene on each of the tables with crazy shaped buildings like in his books so I drew those on foam poster boards with a black marker and cut them out.

You can't tell from my pictures but I also hung clouds and poms from the ceiling to complete the funky look.

I had a lot of fun with the treats. I made super yummy red velvet cupcakes with a cream cheese filling in each (boy, those were good!). I finished them off with a fun Dr. Seuss pick in each.

I also set out a bowl of M&M's as trufula seeds and a big bowl of cotton candy. It is a party after all!
For the drinks. I tore the labels off of pink juice bottles and added my own "Yink Pink Drink" labels from the book "One fish Two Fish". The girls got a kick out of that.

For the program we had the girls choose a Dr. Seuss book and relate it to the values we focus on throughout the year.
It was such a great program and I had soooo much fun planning this event.

Crazy Hair Day
Hey there! I had a little time today so I thought I'd throw my hat into the sketch contest over at My Mind's Eye.
I used their Halloween collection called "Mischievous" for a non-Halloween layout.
My oldest daughter has to be one of the most creative kids I know. (Or maybe the most creative person I know.) For Crazy Hair Day at school she put her hair in a bun, then added Spanish moss to resemble a nest and stuck a plastic crow on top. Seriously, who would have thought of that??

Needless to say she got her picture taken for the yearbook. For her that made it all worth it. ;)

In the Mischievous collection there is a cute little witch print. I cut off the witch's hat and added Spanish moss and bird cut out to resemble my daughter's hair do.

Here is the sketch that I based my layout on:

Great sketch, right?

Sketch Monday
I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. I'm going to start the week off with a sketch.

Here is my take on the sketch:

My youngest daughter loves to try new things with her hair- she's just one of those girls. ;) We bought new rollers for her hair and she looked so cute before church, we just had to take a pic.
Try the sketch and leave me a link in the comments...I'd love to see it!

Trend Spotting....
I'm noticing a trend for Spring...and that trend is canning jars.

To make my jar card I googled an image of a jar, resized it to fit on my card and printed it out. I then decorated the jar with lots of fun fussy cutting and embellies. Pretty fun, right?
I glued everything here down with Helmar's foam Zapdots and Craft and Hobby PVA Glue. Then again Helmar is used behind the scenes on ALL of my projects.
Have a great weekend, readers!!

Lazy Summer Day...I Wish!
Hey there! Today I made a layout based on a fabulous sketch created by a former DT mate, Susan Stringfellow. She has great sketches, you must look her up.

I had a great time pulling out an older collection from GCD Studios, Artsy Urban. I cut and layered each of the flowers with my Sizzix machine (which sadly I broke today). It just means I get to buy myself a brand new one! ;)
Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Want to win A Helmar prize pack??
I know you do, Helmar adhesives are the BEST!
I am loving the Feb sketch challenge made by our lovely Lydell Quin from Helmar.

I created a card using this amazing sketch with Helmar supplies and our preffered partner this week, 7 Dots Studio papers. Talk about a great combination!

This fabulous sketch and my card have several layers and I want my layers to pop so I adhered them with Helmar's foam Scrapdots. To stiffen in baker's twine at the top of my card I used Helmar's Fabric Stiffener. For the rest of my card I used Helmar's Craft and Hobby PVA glue.
If you want to get in on the action and join in on this month's challenge, this is what you have to do:
Using the new Linky tool in our sidebar on the Helmar blog, your projects will be seen and be accessable on the Helmar Blog..... all you have to do is load your project into its own blog post on your blog and add your project details- (before the end of the month), for your chance to win a fabulous Helmar goodie pack!)....then copy the URL for that post and go back and click the INLINKZ Upload button (in the sidebar) and follow the prompts.
Its easy and the prize pack is worth the effort!
A quick, HUGE thank you to 7 Dots Studio for partnering with us this week!
