Happy and Sticky News!

I have some excited news that I've been waiting to share. I was asked to be apart of Helmar's new 2012 design team!! Erika Taylor, our fearless DT coordinator, said that she received just under 190 applications so I am very honored to be chosen. You can see the announcement and the talented list of new designers HERE.

If you aren't familiar with Helmar, they are a recognized leader of adhesive products for the arts and crafts industry. I received a package of Helmar's adhesives when I was designing for Best Creation and I was stunned by how awesome their adhesives work and the variety of choices for the particular project you're working on.
They partner with several big name-brand paper companies so I am excited to give you all ideas for the next 6 months or so.

My Sweet Guy

This week I tore into my brand spankin' new Jillibean collection, Neopolitan. The colors and prints are so rich and fun, it was so easy and fun to design with. I love that! I created this layout of my first born son, Parker for the throwdown challenge at Memorable Seasons. He really is such a sweet, nice kid. The school staff and his church teachers adore him. How did I get so lucky?

Here's in interesting idea for a card. The card challenge was to use salad as our inspiration. My favorite salad is spinach with strawberries and glazed walnuts. I took the challenge literally and ruffled layers of green to resemble the lettuce.
Thanks for visiting today! ~Liz

Kisses From Nana

Thank goodness for Fridays! I have a few more projects to share. Again, these were made for the Throwdown Challenge over at Memorable Seasons. We're in the final week of challenges now and I've been having a blast!
First off - the layout. The challenge was to use a black background as well as adding a few other spices to the mix. I used a fun sketch from Sketchabilities for my inspiration.

The card -we had to make a round card with something that grows from the earth. I was obsessed with mushrooms as a teenager so this was loads fun!

I found a few good Cricut catridges on sale at Walmart that I used for both projects - the mushroom and the 2 large flowers. It has been sooo long since I've used my Cricut, its fun to mix things up a bit.

Oh, and I need to let you in on this little secret (if you don't already know). I thought I'd try out these ink pad from Walmart because...hello, they were only $0.98! And guess what...they works so great!!!

I'm definitely going back for more. Go get yourself some!

Have a FABULOUS weekend!

Cloudy with a chance of...?

If you live in Utah here with me its cloudy with a SURE chance of rain. We're getting drenched out here but its much needed so I won't complain...just yet. This week on Practical Scrappers we are featuring cards and layouts with clouds.
I love the whimsical look that took over on this layout using My Little Shoebox's Aiko collection. How cute are these papers???

I gave all of my flowers a touch of grey paint for an interesting look.

This cloudy card is made from Nikki Sivils Willow Bee papers.

I also entered both of these projects into last week's Throwdown Challenge at Memorable Seasons. This is the last week of the competition and I am having so much fun creating things I normally wouldn't and best of all...I'm creating from my stash -my poor, neglected stash of paper goodness.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Its Sketch time!

Beware, its Friday the 13th! Woooooooooo! (in my ghostly voice)
Its Spring Break here in my area and we are loving it!! It is so nice to spend time with the kiddos and just relax. Oh, and did I mention I quit my job? My last day was Saturday. I'm a free woman!! More time to do what I want, scrap, read or whatever! Yay me!
I made a sketch to share this afternoon. You may recognize it from my layout below.
Have fun with it!

Something Special

Hi scrappy friends! Like many of you, I love banners. Especially when they are unique and full of detail. Last week's challenge at the Memorable Seasons Throwdown is to use banners, circles and ink splatter on our layouts.
Here's what I came up with using an older collection from Pink Paislee.

I also made this simple card to coordinate.
I followed a card sketch of mine.

Have a lovely day!
