This layout was made for a challenge where we were supposed to alter chipboard on our project. I painted the "AID" latters black and then covered them with microbeads. I love this look.

These cute papers are Jillibean Soup's Macho Nacho papers which you can also find in the Memorable Seasons store.

Back when I started scrapbooking...oh, about 13 years ago... paper piecing was very popular and I loved it! I found myself creating the following layout using the same old technique.

Now hop on over to Tami's BLOG to see some of her projects from the crop!

My Whole World

It's Thursday. Only 5 more days of freedom left before school starts for my kids. My youngest is starting kindergarten and it's all day here in VA so...that means I'll have NO ONE at home!! Ugh, not sure whether to be sad or celebrate. I'm feeling a little of both.
Today we're headed out to Kings Dominion for one last hoo-rah of summer but I wanted check in first. I made a sketch and a layout to match.

And here is my whole world...on one hammock (my husband should be here to be totally truthful).

Love these My Mind's Eye papers.
I used my Helmar adhesives on everything here. Love that stuff!

Have a fabulous day!

Flying High ~ Kite Style

The new My Little Shoebox 3D Roll-Up Flower sheets have a new look! They now include leaf and fun accent shapes (which I love).

The cute diamond shaped pieces remindes me of kites so that's what I decided to make with them.

Here's how to make them a little more dimensional.

With a sharp tool, score a line halfing the diamond shape from the top to bottom and from both sides.

Now fold along the scored lines, you now have a dimensional piece.

Add some string and you have a cute, realistic looking kite!

These cute papers are from the new Cherry Blossom collection.

Monday Card Sketch

Hello you fine, fancy ladies!
My favorite sketch site for cards, Card Patterns has closed as of last week. You can still see all of the previous sketches but there won't be any new ones. (insert frowny face here)
Therefore, I decided to make a card sketch of my own.

A Layout Of Scraps

Hi and happy Friday!
We've all got them...SCRAPS! Some people keep them, some throw them away. I always keep them.
I consider myself a pretty frugal scrapbooker.
After creating with my August kit from Memorable Seasons which consisted of the October Afternoon Cake Walk collection, I seemed to have quite a few strips of paper left over. I decided to use those strips for making a layout with long banners (which are very popular right now).

The smaller left over scraps worked great for cutting out my flower die cuts.

Another way to get more use out of your papers is to cut out the insides if you plan to use them for layering. Now you can use that cut out piece anywhere you want.

Have a great weekend!!

Proof Fork aren't Just for Eating

The gals at Practical Scrappers  have really outdone themselves this week. This is the post you must check out.
Today's "Frugal Find" is all about silverware. I thought she was crazy when the assigned frugal find was something as uncommon to the scrapbook world as spoons, knives, and forks. But I was proven wrong, today's post is full of fun, funky and totally original projects.

For my project I broke the prongs off of about 3 plastic forks and arranged them in this star burst shape.  I glued each prong down onto a small circle with Helmar Quick Dry 450 -this was essential because it dries so quickly.

Love the papers and cute image? Its Pretty Little Studio!

Check out the Practical Scrappers blog for more fun ideas using table ware.

Playin' it Cool with Mr. Cool

Happy Monday to you all!
I mentioned a few days ago about a crop we are having at Memorable Seasons. We are having a blast, thinking outside of the box to get some layouts done.

My 8 year old has his own sense of style. He loves to wear his hats with the bills flat, he likes skinny jeans and cool patterns on his hoohies. Dh can't understand it but we don't need to. Its what he likes! :)

I pulled out the super cool Macho Nacho collection from Jillibean Soup.

And check it flowers! LOL!

Home Decor Blocks with Helmar Decoupage

Hello crafty ladies! Today I am about  to confess my love for Helmar's Decoupage and Craft Paste. Don't mess around with other silly brands,  just use the one that works.
Today I'm going to show you how I made these cute family blocks.

A friend of mine cut out the vinyl letters for me in off white. You can also use paper letters cut out from a laser or die cut machine.
My husband cut out blocks that are fitting to the letters out of 2x4 wood.

I sprayed each block with a dark brown spray paint. After it dried I sanded down the edges for a nice, rustic look.
Each block is now ready to be covered with cute patterned paper. I sanded down each of the paper squares as well.

I brushed each painted block with Helmar's Decoupage and Craft Paste, just on the front.

Immediately place the paper squares on top and add another coat of Helmar's Decoupage and Craft Paste.

After allowing to dry I applied the vinyl letters onto each block.

The cute flower over the eye got dressed up with a button and baker's twine. Those were glued down with the fabulous 450 Quick Dry.

That's all from me today. Have a great weekend!

We're aCroppin' at Memorable Seasons

Come join us over at Memorable Seasons for our annual Members Challenge Us crop. I love this crop because instead of the DT issuing the challenges, it all comes from the members. It's given me time to actually play along a little more.

Here is one layout I made for the crop.

This was a sketch challenge, the sketch is made by the talented Susan Stringfellow.

The paper is the adorable My Little shoebox Keepsake collection.

I felt like this sketch was made for this MLS collection. I had a blast cutting and arranging the little frames.

Stop by the Memorable Seasons forum to get in on the fun and prizes!

Win New Aphas from My Little Shoebox

My Little Shoebox has a new thing going on - they are Muse Alphabet cardstock Stickers. I received a good assortment in my DT box and I just love them!
This week on the MLS blog the DT is showcasing them for you to see.
Here is a layout I made of my cute nephew, Oliver. I used the new alphas to describe him and his cuteness.

These papers are from the new MLS Vintage Shop collection. I love this line!

Here is a close up of the new alphas. They've all got some sort of cute pattern on them like stripes, polka dots and plaid.

**Leave me a comment below and I'll send out a package of the new alphas to one of you. This is only open to US addresses only please. Deadline: Sunday Aug 19th**

Distressing with Helmar

Distressed? Me?
Hello and happy Saturday! Today I am here with you to share my latest project for Helmar and this week its all about distressing. I am a pretty clean lined scrapper so to make a project that's completely distressed is a challenge for me. Don't get me wrong, I love to scrape my fingernails along the paper ages to give it a little dimension.
I went all out today (all out for me) by wrinkling, sanding, inking and distressing as best I could. And you know was totally fun!

I adhered everything down with Helmar Acid Free glue. After all, if you're taking time to preserve your memories, you'd better make sure it'll last the test of time.
I find when I am stacking flowers, it's easiest to use Helmar 450 Quick Dry adhesive. It is sticky and those layers aren't going to go anywhere.
The yellow flower was layered with Helmar's foam Zap Dots. It was the perfect thing to give each layer distinction.

That's all for today! Thanks for stopping by!

A Sunday Drive with Keepsake

Hello! Today I'd like to share with you a few layouts I made with My Little Shoebox's adorable Keepsake collection.
I love that the colors and prints are very versatile. I was able to make a girly page and a masculine page of my husband.

Who doesn't love a nice, Sunday drive?

To add plenty of color and texture I cut out several flower shapes with my die cut machine.

I made sure the title stood out by outlining it with a black pen.
Products used: My Little Shoebox Keepsake collection; Cardstock stickers, Simple Treasures, English Rose, Window View, Razzleberry and pink Sprinkle Glaze Alphabet stickers.

And finally, a masculine page of my DH. My husband is very musical. He plays the guitar and he has a beautiful voice so this paper was perfect!
I added just a touch of pink to show my love for him. :)
Products used: My Little Shoebox Keepsake collection; Cardstock stickers, Simple Treasures, Garden Delight, Picture Perfect, Razzleberry, and 3D Roll Up Flower sheet.

*Everything was glued down with Acid Free Helmar Glue.

That's it for today, enjoy!
