Trend Setter

Some papers are so pretty that I feel the need to do an extra little photo shoot of my kids just to use them. Crate Paper's  "Trend Setter" has been on the top of my list for a while.

Both of my girls are close to my heart but Sidney is my youngest daughter so she is my "baby girl".
I cut out a few doily dies and a bike die for added cuteness. :)

Next up is my oldest daughter, Makenzie . She is a beautiful red head and I don't usually change her photo colors because of it but sometimes the color needs to be left for the papers.

River Rats

We are fortunate to live really close to our county forest, like 5 minutes away. It has great hiking and biking trails and a river that is great for kids to wade in and cool off.
For our first day of summer (which was just THIS Wed.) I took the kids on a hike which lead to the river. Exercise and play- can't beat that!

For my layout below I used the June Sketch from My Mind's Eye. I love all of the layers and ink splatters on the sketch.

I used several pieces of My Mind's Eye "Follow Your Heart" collection throughout my whole page. Such cute papers!

Have a great start to your week!

Happiness...

is having happy children. I know you would all agree with that. My 12 year old daughter is just the cutest thing, I love taking pictures of her.

I used the same American Crafts collection that I used yesterday. I printed my photos in black and white, which I really love to do with the right papers, and hung them as if they're on the clothes line out back.

Home-made feathers are easy to make. Just cut out a leaf shape and cut the edges continuously with small, sharp scissors.

You and Bargains Make Me Happy

Roaming through the Target dollar section I came across this adorable little frame for...yes...only a dollar! I immediately knew I'd use it on a scrapbook layout.

I used American Craft's Garden CafĂ© collection for all of my paper strips and fussy cutting.

To give let the details of the mini frame stand out I lightly brushed it with an aqua colored paint.

Happy Scrapping!

June Practical Scrappers Sketch

This month's sketch for Practical Scrappers was revealed on the PS blog a few days. The DT did, of course, an AMAZING job on their layouts using this sketch for inspiration.

My youngest daughter ran her first 5K with her daddy a few weeks ago.  It was long and it was hot but it was worth it. It was good for my daughter to know that she coul d push through the pain and complete something with such a worthy cause.
I used an older Making Memories collection for my layout.

Number One Dad

Happy Father's Day to our dads and darling hubbies!

I have a few quick and simple cards to share with you using the #1Dad Sweet Spot Die from Die-Versions.

I used a Pagemaps card sketch for this card as well as Jillibean papers from my guest DT spot at Paper Secrets. I noticed that the grey patterned look a little purple, in real life they are not. ;) I wouldn't go that frilly with a man's card.

For this card I used a card sketch by Susan Stringfellow. I also used Jillibean Soup papers but made it much more masculine. This card is for my hubby because he really is the jack of all trades. Its so nice to be married to a handy man.

Beachy Keen

Happy Friday to you all! This is our last "school" weekend before school officially gets out on Tuesday. With events like 8th grade graduation and kindergarten graduation, I have very little time to breath. Come on, summer!!
Speaking of summer, hopefully many of you are hitting the beach within the next few months or so. If you are, remember to snap tons of photos then come home and scrap them all with Die-Versions dies. This month's collection are fabulously beachy.
I used the beautiful Conch Shell on two separate cards, both a little different from the other.

I created a shaker box in the top corner by filling a chipboard frame with sand and tiny dies like crabs, a shovel and pail from the Beach Scene die and then covering it with a plastic sheet.

Next we have this simple yet "punny" shore card using the same shell die. This time I backed the shell with another piece of paper so the sand, which is made of sandpaper, didn't show through.

Sketch Inspiration

Hello! I've been really in a scrappy mood lately which I am grateful for. I was getting a little worried there when my slump lasted for a few weeks.
There are some fun sketches over at Pamela's World Of Scrap from Pamela young this month. I tried out the 12x12 sketch and the card sketch which are both very similar and both great!!

I spent a little time fussy cutting all of the flowers, as soon as that was done I put together the layout really quick. I LOVE the look of fussy cutting!

My daughter earned the 8th Grade Art award during their graduation ceremony. It's not a surprise at all, she is very talented and creative. I am so proud of her!

And finally, the card.

Have a good day!

Changing Courses

The new Tricycle die from Die-versions is absolutely adorable. I just know I'm going to use it in so many projects.
I tied some twine to the handle bars on this altered cutting board for visual impact. I edited a photo of my son on his bike and typed the phrase, "It's Never too late to stop and change the way you're going." So true! Especially for us women, we can change our minds as much as we need to. ;)

Sunday Sweets:Ballet Cake

I realize I haven't shared with you my latest cake creations, which I like to do on Sundays.

I had a client ask for a pretty stacked cake with a dance and flower theme.

I made all of the flowers from sugar gum paste and covered the cake in fondant. I went with the-ever-so-popular ombre look by making the bottom tier the darkest pink and the top tier the lightest pink.

I did a sort of ruffle design using each color on the bottom to resemble tu-tus
Since my client was buying the cake for a friend who is a ballet teacher I made some cute little ballet slippers for the top, also out of fondant.

My client loved it which made me very happy. :)

Life's A Beach

I am so excited to show you Die-Versions's June 2013 release, "Life's A Beach"!! These beachy dies are ADORABLE!!

I received a few dies from the collection and I am just in love! It was fun pulling out some older photos of us at the beach in California a few years ago to use the Vacation Express Edge, the Palm Tree Sweet Petite die and the Beach Scene die. All of which are to die for!

More ideas using these and a few more dies from this collection coming soon.

Check out the Die-Versions BLOG for tons of great inspiration from the DT using dies from this new release.

Thanks for stopping by, have a great Day!!
